Designing secure mobile payments at Settle AS

At Settle AS, I designed and supported the launch of several financial services such as PEP transactions, Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2), and Know Your Customer (KYC) services. One of the most exciting projects I worked on was the launch of a QR code scan and pay system in Croatia. The projects were done in quick cycles to launch ahead of competition in the market, by getting the app ready for the Croatian market focused on enabling cross border payments.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Designing the UX for inhouse KYC and PEP Verification Services

A significant challenge was accommodating various identification (ID) requirements for KYC services for enabling cross border payments in Europe. This was designed in parallel with creating the transaction experiences for the payment failure resulting from Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) sanctions, as PEP sanctions can have a major impact on the customer journey and the payment process. To ensure compliance, we had to create additional KYC features to detect and prevent any potential risks.

UX Enhancements to Enable Multiple Bank Accounts on the Settle App

Working on the Settle app's PSD2 integration project, my goal was to ensure that users could easily manage and transact across multiple bank accounts, while adhering to the EU Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2). Our team worked on optimizing the user interface, designed a seamless user flow for connecting and managing bank accounts.

Integrating bank account for direct transfer from Settle Wallet

The features included additional identity verification methods, such as facial recognition, and the ability to detect any suspicious activities. Additionally, the integration of bank accounts allowed for direct transfers from the Settle Wallet, ensuring security and compliance with financial regulations.

Throughout my work at Settle, I leveraged design to make complex financial services more accessible for users. It was a great experience to work with fintech working at the intersection of design, trust and evolving ways in which peopleunderstand and interact with digital money.
